The Ultimate Guide to Making Money Online: Tips and Techniques for Success
The first time I realized you could make money online was in my senior year of college.
I was scrolling through Pinterest when I came across an article about how a woman traveled the world and earned a full-time income by working online. Like any independent passion, in the early '20s, this was my dream. So of course I thought, "How can I make money online so I can travel whenever and wherever I want?"
I decided to dig a little further to see if there was another "laptop lifestyle" working with an internet connection and cell reception from anywhere. As it turns out, thousands, if not millions, of people make money online every day.
Once I realized that there are many legitimate ways to make money online, I decided to try it for myself. Since then, I've made thousands every year working with my laptop. And getting started is not as difficult as you might think.
The first time I realized you could make money online
Here are my tips for creating an income stream online and staying on top of your business.
Don't start a business unless you are willing to stay up all night making it happen.
If you are not willing to put in the work to make it work, then don't do it. Even with as much work as I do in a typical day, there's always more to be done, so I usually find myself making a series of small "mini-steps."
Start with making just a few dollars a week, then move on to more money. Start your business if it excites you!
I did this once I realized I could make money online, and at first, I started making even less than $1. I got comfortable with that for a little bit, then pushed myself to $2.
How to make money online
The first step is actually purchasing a computer and internet service. You can save on these costs by getting a basic laptop, and for a while, it's not necessary to purchase a webcam for video calls.
However, as you start getting more followers, some packages offer webcam hardware. If you're still researching the cost of a computer, try checking with your local library or community center to see if you can borrow one for a month or two.
Also, keep in mind that if you're not comfortable with computers or tech at all, you can try something simple like creating a Facebook page. It might not generate much interest, but it might get you to try using your computer for something besides Angry Birds.
In addition to your computer, you'll need internet.
Tips and Techniques on how to succeed in making money online
1. Understand the business you want to start
The first step is knowing what you want to do. Do you want to be a freelance writer, or a YouTube personality, or work from home as a virtual assistant? Whatever it is, it will require more research than most people would think, but the good news is that hundreds of free websites can help you.
Start by reading and using forums, websites, and other places online to ask questions about what it is that you want to do. Once you know what you're looking for, start researching on Google and Google Maps to see where you'd like to go and what sort of resources are available to you.
Once you've found the place, you'll find it at your fingertips. If you go to local events, you'll probably find businesses there who are hiring.
